Fig Tree

This is a tree with Mediterranean origins and it is cultivated mainly for its fruit. The leaves are compound, they have five ovate lobes and the flowers, both male and female, grow inside a receptacle. The fruit has the shape of a small pear and varies in colour, from green to purple.

Properties and Use

Combined with other herbs, the fig can have a laxative effect. The figs can also be helpful during cold as it has a demulcent effect and it calms the respiratory tracts. Warts can also be treated using the stem and leaves of the fig.
