This is the fruit of the pimento which is an evergreen tree that grows in South and Central America, Mexico and the West Indies. It has lanceolate leaves and small white flowers. The fruit is purplish-black when is ripe and has a mixed taste of spices and it is used in different purposes.

Properties and Use:

It is used in cases of indigestion and flatulence. It is also a stimulant and is good for rheumatism and neuralgia. If taken with laxatives it has the effect of lessening the tendency to gripe.
