Seasonal affected disorder

A type of depression in which mood changes occur with the seasons.  Those with seasonal affected disorder, or SAD, tend to become depressed in winter, when natural light decreases and feel better in spring.  In certain people, exposure to bright light for 2-4 hours each morning appears to prevent it.
