Scalded skin syndrome
An unusual skin disease that causes redness followed by peeling of large areas of skin. It is brought on by certain toxins from the bacterium STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS. Children are especially susceptible. Treatment is with intravenous injection or infusion of antibiotics.
