Pelvic abscess
An abscess (a collection of pus formed after infection with microrganisms) that arises in one of the structures inside the pelvis. Pelvic abscesses can be caused by peritonitis (inflammation of the membrane lining of the abdominal cavity) or to localised inflammation resulting from disorders such as pelvic inflammatory disease.
