Normocytic anaemia

Any type of anaemia in which the amount of haemoglobin (oxygen-carrying pigment) in the blood is reduced due to a reduction in the total number of red blood cells; the size and haemoglobin content of the individual red blood cells is normal. Normocytic anaemia can arise as a result of chronic diseases such as chronic inflammatory joint disease and renal failure) or as a result of a problem with the bone marrow itself.
