Nasal discharge

The release of fluid from the nose. Nasal is discharge widely caused by the inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the nose and is usually accompanied by nasal congestion.

A discharge of mucous may point to hay fever, a infection that has spread from the close by sinuses, or cold. A constant runny discharge can be an early symptom of tumour.

Bleeding from the nose is mostly caused by foreign body in the nose or by injury. In unusual cases, bleeding from the nose can be a sign of a tumour or underlying bleeding disorder. A discharge of cerebrospinal fluid from the nose may follow shortly after a fracture at the base of the skull.
