Lichen planus

A widespread skin disease of which the cause is not known. It commonly affects middle aged people. Shiny, small, intensely itchy, purple or pink raised spots arise on the skin of the forearms, lower legs, and inner wrists. There is usually a lacy network of white spots covering over the inside lining of the cheeks. The disease is treated with topical corticosteroid drugs.
