Keratoacanthoma

A type of harmful skin nodule that frequently arises in older people, most often seen on the arm or face. The cause is not known, but prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or long term use of corticosteroid drugs can be contributory factors. In the beginning the nodules resemble a little wart, but it grows to 1-2cm across within eight weeks. Although the nodule often disappears slowly after this time, surgical removal is usually recommended to stop any scarring.
