Intention tremor

A type of tremor (rhythmic, involuntary shaking of the muscles) arising only when someone tries to carry out a conscious movement, such as picking up or touching an object. The tremor gets more severe as the object is approached. The condition is often due to damage or disease affecting the cerebellum (the area at the back of the brain that controls coordinating movements).
