Harrison’s sulcus

A depression seen at the lower part of the rib cage of a child that is often caused by extreme suction of the diaphram muscle in respiratory conditions, such as severe asthma.  Harrison’s sulcus can also be the result of the normal pull of the diaphragm on ribs that have been weakened – for example in conditions like rickets.
