Generalised anxiety disorder

A psychiatric illness characterised by chronic and persistent apprehension and tension that has no exact focus.  There can also be a range of physical symptoms such as sweating, trembling, light-headness and irritability. The condition can be treated with psychotherapy, such as cognitive-behaviour therapy, antidepressants, or drugs such as sedatives or beta blockers that alleviate symptoms but do not treat the underlying condition.
