Xanthelasma

Marked by a yellow coloured fatty deposit which occurs around the eyes, it is common in elderly people and usually insignificant.  In younger people, however, it may be an indication of hyperlipidaemias (excess fat in the blood).  They may be removed with surgery, if necessary, quite simply with a local anaesthetic.  The associated hyperlipidaemia must also be treated.
